Camps & Registration
Our camp is ideally situated overlooking beautiful Regatta Bay. The camp site includes a main lodge, complete with a fireplace which is used for rainy day activities including evening campfires. Also on site are 4 cabins that serve as sleeping quarters. Each sleeps 12 campers and 1 or 2 counselors. Our camp has now officially opened our new 3000 square foot all-season recreation hall. This building is heated by geo-thermal heat which also provides air conditioning during the summer months. This hall houses our kitchen and serves as the main dining hall during camp. Internet access and telephone are available in this building as well. A dock and swimming area are enjoyed by all campers. Wellman Lake United Church Camps are opportunities for young people to learn more about Christian living. As the Wellman Lake United Church Camp is a member of the Manitoba Camping Association we can also offer the services of the Sunshine Fund to assist families in sending children to camp

If you cannot find the answers you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us (link).

Arrival & Departure
Camp begins at 4:00 pm Sunday and ends at 12:00 noon Friday unless otherwise noted. Camper registration deadline is 10 days before camp start. All campers should arrive between 3:30 and 4:00 on the Sunday. No supervision is provided to campers prior to this time.   Campers depart at noon on Friday.
Please NOTE: Arrangements can be made for pickup and drop-off at bus terminal in Swan River or Minitonas if pre-arranged prior to camp.

Financial Assistance

The Sunshine Fund enables Manitoba children who do not have the financial means through parents, guardians or agencies, an opportunity to attend an accredited Manitoba summer camp.

Our Staff
Our staff are members of the camp’s member churches as well as interested youth.   Prior to camp start the cabin leaders and leadership staff undergo a multi-day training program which includes First Aid and CPR training. We also staff a fully trained lifeguard for all camping sessions.

Medical Needs

Our camp director is the primary care person for all medical issues. The Director is responsible for administering all medications and taking care of all injuries. Please bring all prescription meds your child needs in a zip lock bag. Also, be sure to let us know if there are any medical conditions that may be affected by your child’s stay with us. We do provide basic medications (ie Tylenol, Benadryl, Gravol, etc.). Please be sure to complete the medical section of the registration form so that we may follow your preferences regarding medical attention.

Accommodations
Your child will be staying in one of our 4 cabins which sleep 12 campers. Each cabin will have 1 or 2 counselors supervising. Males and females are placed in separate cabins. These cabins are equipped with bunk beds and mattresses.
All you need is a sleeping bag and pillow.

Phone Calls and Homesickness

Homesickness is a very natural and common occurrence. In our experience, homesick periods are most prevalent at the beginning of the week and usually subside before mid-week. Since calling home often amplifies homesick emotions we encourage our campers not to call home. If your camper continues to be homesick, we will contact you first so you can help us decide what to do. If you would like to chat with your child we suggest that you focus on the fun they are having and the sports and activities they are learning.

What to Bring?

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I send money with my child and if so, how much?
We have Tuck available on site as well as allow campers to visit the Wellman Lake Lodge on beach days.  Campers should not bring more than $10.00 to camp.

How can I contact my child if there is an emergency?
To contact a camper in an emergency situation, please call the camp at
(204) 525-2468. Cooks are in the lodge for most of the day and campers and staff are there at all meal times as well as in the evenings.

How will I know if you received my registration?
Your cheque will be cashed.

How do I get a receipt for my payment?
You will receive a receipt on the first day of camp (opening day) from your child’s counselor.

What kind of meals/snacks will my child get?
We offer nutritional, well balanced meals with lots of fruits and vegetables. If your child has special dietary concerns please note this on your application. We work hard to accommodate special dietary needs and need to advice those who buy groceries as well as the cooks in advance of campers arriving at camp.

Is there financial aid for families who can't afford the registration fees?
We never want to turn away a camper because of financial need. Funding may be available to you through the Sunshine Fund.

Can I come with my child to camp?
ABSOLUTELY! We do not have many parents that stay at camp with their child, as this can sometimes make it more difficult for them to adjust to camp activities.  We do  have places for parents to serve (in the kitchen, mowing lawns, driving boat, cleaning, building) but this needs to be planned in advance. We do ask that your child remain with his cabin leader at all times but we don’t have a problem with you being here.

I did not opt for a T-shirt on the registration form. Can my child still get one?
Yes we have T-shirts available at the camp that can be purchased.

Cancellation Policy
Registration Deadline is 10 days prior to the start of each camp session. In the event of a cancellation within 3 days of the camp, a $15.00 administration fee will be withheld.
